One of my favorite neighborhoods in Destin is Holiday Isle, a three-mile peninsula that touches
the Destin Harbor, Gulf of America and East Pass. What makes it truly unique is that it’s the only
true beach, canal and boating community in Destin—giving residents the best of both worlds:
waterfront living and beach access.

Holiday Isle wasn’t always the peninsula it is today. Over decades, hurricanes, shifting tides, and
rising waters slowly connected a sandy island to the mainland of Destin. During and after World
War II, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dug out a series of deep canals, making it possible for
homes to be built right on the water. By the 1970s, developers turned the vision into a reality—a
neighborhood designed around the boating lifestyle.
