Idyll Hounds Brewing Company opened its doors here in 2014 at 845 Serenoa Road. Distillery 98 followed, setting up its tasting room next door at 835 Serenoa Road. Amavida Coffee Roasters relocated into a building at 712 Serenoa Road, and Grayton Beer Co. rounds out the strip within easy walking distance.

Each business has a distinct draw, from beer and spirits to coffee.

Three Businesses Along Serenoa Road

• Idyll Hounds Brewing Company (845 Serenoa Road) runs close to 30 beers on tap according to regulars who've counted, alongside board games and chalkboards scattered through the brew floor. Current hours run noon to 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
• Distillery 98 (835 Serenoa Road) is a grain-to-glass microdistillery that filters its Half Shell Vodka through crushed oyster shells, a detail that earned it a writeup in Southern Living. Hours currently run 2 to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 1 to 7 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
• Amavida Coffee Roasters (712 Serenoa Road) moved into its current building with more than 10,000 square feet of roasting, distribution, and office space, plus a lounge area built around a pool table specifically so people would linger rather than grab a bag of beans and leave.

One Tripadvisor reviewer described stumbling onto Idyll Hounds by accident after finding Grayton Beer Co. closed on a rainy Sunday, driving through what they called "the industrial park," and being surprised to find a full parking lot for a brewery they'd never heard of. • Thursday, October 1: Distillery 98's rotating "Distilled" artist series opens its next gallery night at 6 p.m., featuring local artist Allison Wickey, part of a monthly rotation where the tasting room's walls fill with a different Panhandle artist's work each month, all available for purchase.

The Practical Version

If you live in Santa Rosa Beach and haven't made the turn onto Serenoa Road yet, the short version is this: it's a few minutes off 30A, the parking is free and usually available, and the three anchors cover most of an evening on their own. Start with a flight at Idyll Hounds if you want the widest tap list on the strip, walk next door to Distillery 98 for a cocktail built on their oyster-filtered vodka, and swing by Amavida earlier in the day if you want the coffee-shop version of the same idea before the taprooms open. Check each business's own event listing before you go, since the schedule shifts month to month, especially around the Distilled artist series and any Houndfest dates as they're announced.
